Kat Norris Named To The NSCAA All-South Third-Team
Dec. 21, 2007
GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina senior defender Kat Norris has been named to the NSCAA All-South Third-Team. This is the second time Norris has received All-South Honors and she joins eight other Lady Pirates of the past in receiving this award. Norris, a co-captain of the Lady Pirates, was named first-team all-conference during the 2006 and 2007 campaign. Norris was named second-team all conference as a sophomore and received C-USA All-Tournament team honors. This season, Norris led the Pirate's defense in setting two ECU single season records by shutting out 11 opponents as the Pirates only allowed 0.58 goals per game. During the 2007 season the Pirates held teams scorless for 804 consecutive minutes, which ranks 20th all-time in NCAA history for minutes without allowing a goal. "Kat had an amazing season," said head coach Rob Donnenwirth. "Our team posted its best goals against average in our program's history and Kat was a big part of our team's success." In recognition for her hard work and excellent defensive play, the soccer team and coaches voted Norris the team's Most Valuable Player.
