"Playing By The Rules" Critical To Success
The alumni, fans and supporters of East Carolina University play an important role in the continued growth and success of the University. That fact is especially true for the Athletics Department. Regardless of your connection, casual listener to a game broadcast, occasional ticket purchaser, season ticket holder, Pirate Club contributor, alumnus or friend, you play an integral part assisting East Carolina's athletics program to win. Winning is more than outscoring the opponent. Winning also means "Playing By the Rules". That includes rules of eligibility, academic standards and NCAA regulations involving amateurism, benefits, financial aid and recruiting.

This site is intended to provide a basic understanding of NCAA rules and regulations. While not all inclusive, it is meant to provide guidance in many of the situations you may encounter and should help you avoid inadvertently violating fundamental NCAA policies.

As you peruse this information please keep in mind that NCAA rules and regulations have not been imposed by some unknown entity. They have for the most part, been developed by, presented to and voted on by the individual members of the Association. They allow for a "level playing field" among the diverse institutions, which comprise the NCAA across the country.

Adherence to these rules is mandatory if we are to maintain the integrity of fair play and competition.
